BADER is proud to be the only leather manufacturer in Europe to join the European Roundtable for Beef Sustainability (ERBS), a multi-stakeholder initiative dedicated to sustainable beef practices from farm to fork. As part of ERBS, we gain valuable insights into sustainable cattle farming while sharing common goals, including improving animal welfare and minimising environmental impact.

“At BADER, we believe sustainable cattle farming must consider the entire animal—including the hide,” says Susanne Krauss, Project Manager Hide Procurement at BADER. “By upcycling the hide, the leather industry contributes significantly to sustainability, and our Zero Waste and Zero Impact strategy aligns perfectly with the ERBS mission.”

Susanne Krauss recently participated in the 2024 ERBS Annual Event in Poznan, Poland, which focused on the “Greenhouse Gas Protocol—accelerating progress for a resilient beef sector.” The conference featured keynote speakers, opportunities to connect with ERBS members across the value chain, and farm visits showcasing sustainable farming practices. “A key takeaway was the farmers’ strong commitment to advancing sustainability at the farm level,” Krauss notes.
