At BADER, we believe that meaningful progress is driven by collaboration. That’s why we’re proud to see our subsidiary AVEMA contributing to forward-thinking research that explores new ways to transform industrial by-products into innovative solutions for the future.
Together with Hochschule Düsseldorf (HSD) University of Applied Sciences, AVEMA is supporting the development of panel materials made from casein glue, leather and CALOR fibres. Produced from industrial leather cutting waste, CALOR as a valuable resource gives new purposes while opening up new possibilities for acoustic and thermal insulation solutions.
The project investigates how these recycled materials can be transformed into new material applications. By combining the fibers with a natural casein-based adhesive, the project explores the potential of these materials beyond their original intended use and demonstrates how sustainable concepts can make the move from research to actually being useful and sustainable products.
The collaboration was recently presented for the first time as part of the “New Design from Düsseldorf” exhibition at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf. The exhibition brought together selected projects by design graduates from the HSD and provided a platform to explore new approaches in the areas of materials, sustainability, and innovation.
For AVEMA and BADER, the project is yet another example of how collaboration can create new value from existing resources. Instead of viewing industrial leather by-products as waste, we are investigating how they can become the starting point for new material solutions and products.
From leather fibres to new possibilities - this collaboration demonstrates how innovation, research, and forward-thinking can work together to make a sustainable impact.
